The Journey Starts Here…

Bathed in dappled winter sunlight and under a frosted canopy of boughs, the road to Sanderumgård on the Island of Funen, Denmark, is revealed as the early morning mist rises. (Ian Mylam)

“It may be that the satisfaction I need depends on my going away,
so that when I’ve gone and come back, I’ll find it at home.”

– Jalal Al-Din Rumi, 1207 – 1273

Welcome to my new blog, and the first of what I hope will be many posts.

My initial intention was simply to put together some kind of photography portfolio on the web, which was long overdue.  After thinking about it a little more, I decided that a blog would make the site far more interesting (for me, at least!) and less static than a simple portfolio or gallery site.  And so this blog was born.

I am not yet sure how it will evolve, but I am hoping that will become clear as I get more comfortable with this whole blogging thing. My initial thoughts are that it will involve posting some photographs, stories and anecdotes from the places I travel to; links to other photographers, photobloggers and sites of photographic news and interest; the occasional post on photography gear and technique; and possibly even ramblings and musings of a more general nature.  It will definitely be informal; quite possibly irregular; with luck, informative; but most of all, I hope that it will be interactive.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you’ll join the conversation.
