… Just arrived in New Jersey this evening, and wanted to share the view of some spectacular cloudscapes visible from the cockpit as we descended towards Newark Liberty International Airport.  There were thunderstorms in the New Jersey area which made for a stunning view from the flight deck in the raking light of the evening sun.  These highly convective clouds can be deadly to aircraft owing to the huge updrafts and downdrafts associated with them – but very beautiful to look at from a safe distance.

Tomorrow evening, I’ll be flying back to London – and then returning to New York the following day, when I hope to spend some time on the streets of Brooklyn and Manhattan photographing some of New York’s beautiful and iconic architecture.

As ever, click on the image here to view it larger.

Thanks Stacy – we were two pilots on the flight deck watching the autopilot, which was doing an excellent job – so rest assured, all was under complete control :)
