Prints
Prints are supplied unframed. Print orders are fulfilled by Spectrum Photographic, a professional lab specializing in fine art and photographic printing based in East Sussex, England. Prints can be shipped worldwide. Spectrum Photographic utilizes three paper types: Fujicolor Crystal Archive Type II, Somerset Enhanced Velvet and Innova FibaPrint White Matte. Fujicolor Crystal Archive Type II paper is used for glossy, matte, and lustre finishes; Somerset Enhanced Velvet and Innova FibaPrint White Matte are used for giclée prints.
Spectrum Photographic will print images in one of five finishes: Glossy, Matte, Lustre, Enhanced Velvet, or White Matte.
Glossy photos are printed on coated paper with a very smooth, shiny reflective surface. Glossy finishes have a high-contrast appearance and look slick to the touch when not under glass. This finish has an excellent dynamic range and color – slightly more “pop” than the matte paper, though less noticeable once framed.
Matte finishes have a very smooth, non-glare surface. Matte finishes have a lower-contrast when printed and are often used to enhance the texture of a print.
Lustre has a slight gloss with a subtle, pearl-like texture. Lustre paper has a deeper color-saturization than matte.
Giclée is the process of making fine art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing. Somerset Enhanced Velvet paper or White Matte paper are available for Giclée prints.
